Lewis Hamilton responded to Red Bull Racing’s Helmut Marco’s insulting remarks in a social media post that “he would probably think he should have left last year”.

Hamilton is in a particularly difficult position this year as the Mercedes W13 is not in competition with Ferrari and Red Bull, is extremely cumbersome and difficult to set up and the team’s other driver, George Russell, has done better than Lewis in their last three GPs Formula 1.

The culmination of his troubles came at Imola last Sunday when he received a round from the match winner and his big opponent for last year’s title, Max Ferstappen.

After that, Dr. Helmut Marco, an RBR consultant, said Hamilton “He accepted around us, he would probably think he should have left last year”Jacques Villeneuve expressed doubts as to whether the seven-time British champion will stay in F1 through the summer, while two-time champion Mika Hakinen said Lewis “He’s already looking for the opportunity to change teams.”

Hamilton’s response to Marco and Villeneuve came via Instagram, where he wrote: “I’m working on my masterpiece. I’ll be the one to decide when it ends.” This post was met with tons of positive comments and reactions, including from Mercedes F1.

In connection with the Imola fight, Hamilton had also given his answers to Mika Hakinen, without naming him of course, saying: “I’ve seen some comments from certain people that I remember respecting when I was young and old. After all, their comments are silly, a bunch of nonsense just aiming to make bold headlines to keep themselves posted.

Look, I’ve been with Mercedes since I was 13 years old. We had great moments together. We paced. “I stand behind this team 100 percent, there is no other place I would like to be.”added the Brit.

And he concluded: “It’s not in my DNA to go back just because we’re in a difficult situation. We’re still world champions and we can fix it. It’s just going to take longer and it’s going to be a difficult year. A season we have to go through. all together [στην ομάδα] with the belief that we can fix things. If not during the year, in the worst case.”
