Seven-time Dakar champion Chagin left his post as head of the KAMAZ-master team
Vladimir Chagin left the post of head of the KAMAZ-master team, according to the team’s website.
The seven-time Dakar Rally champion will focus on the Silk Way Rally project, but will continue to work as a team to continue sharing experience and advice with the team. Chagin will be replaced in his position by Eduard Nikolaev, who won the Dakar five times.
“KAMAZ-master” is the most dear business to me, to which I owe, perhaps, everything achieved in my life. Now, when the management sets me new tasks, I believe that this unique sports and production team should develop even more rapidly and achieve new goals. The slogan “Make way for the young!” more relevant than ever.
The participation of young leaders in any process always gives a new impetus to development, and now is the time for non-standard modern approaches. Today’s challenges require new energy and intensive work,” said 53-year-old Chagin.
Chagin has worked with the KAMAZ-master team since its founding in 1988 and has led it for the past 11 years. He won the Dakar Rally truck category in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2010 and 2011.
