What happened on the day Grzeta made his debut at Athletic?
This season, we are looking for intra-stories related to the debut dates of current athletic athletes. All of them, at least today, have spent their time as lion-like elites, some more, some less so. I think there are some names that will attract attention in connection with the premiere of each main character. The established order will be a numerical order.
This season’s 12th place goes to Gorka Gurzeta. According to Athletic’s official website, the forward made his debut with the Red-White team on Monday, August 27, 2018. Ten o’clock at night. red and white. It was the second day of the 2018/2019 league. The San Sebastian player made his debut against Huesca. Eduardo Berizzo was the coach who replaced him. 30th place. Like last week, Nico Williams.
Alternative. He came on as a substitute for Susaeta in the 83rd minute. The player from Eibar was the star of the night for two reasons. The first was scoring the opening goal, and as captain, he and Gonzalo Melero laid flowers at the bust of Pichichi. This was the Huesca team’s first visit to San Mamés in the top category. Susaeta will retire in 2021 and Melero is now an Almeria player.
As with Nico Williams, he made his debut tied at 2 o’clock, which is also a coincidence. Gull played as a center forward, moving Williams to the right wing. In front of him was Xavi Echeita, who is on loan from Athletic. There was no fear clause and Leo Franco, Huesca’s manager at the time, was able to line him up. The San Sebastian player became the 616th debutant in the Red and White club’s history, having just scored 18 goals for Bilbao Athletic under Melero’s current coach Gaizka Garitano.
It was the night that Yuri Bershche made his debut as Athletic’s scorer. He did it on the right too. Current Osasuna player Simy Avila scored the equalizer with a shot into the top corner of Unai Simon’s goal. Athletic players took to the field wearing shirts supporting Leque, who broke his ankle during practice.
Grzeta has played 60 games for the Lions in all competitions and, like Nico Williams, has scored 13 goals, six of which have come in the league. His performance and goals have made him one of the revelations of this season, at least for me, but Monday’s goal in Girona is not easy to forget.
In the rest of the sport, on the same day that Gorka Gurzeta made his debut with Athletic, it was covered in the national Sportish newspapers that Messi, Luis Suarez and Dembele had formed a new trident for Valverde’s team. It was also noted that the Motorcycle Grand Prix at Silverstone was canceled due to rain, and Nadal started the US Open tennis match against Ferrer on defense.
Grzeta’s contract ends in June, as does Nico Williams. These are separate cases, especially since San Sebastian’s players are automatically updated when playing a pre-agreed series of matches. “Gurgol” is a football player who had to undergo several transfers. The goal in Amorebieta reopened the door for Lezama and based on his performance, he is taking advantage of the moment. Don’t stop the rhythm. It’s not just another Thursday.
