Williams announced Sargeant and closed the driver puzzle for 2024
Grove’s team have confirmed Logan Sargeant’s contract extension for the new Formula 1 season, meaning all ten driver duos in the sport this year will remain unchanged until 2024.
The American Logan Sargestead managed to develop his talent at the last GPs of 2023 with quite competitive performances, especially in the qualifying tests, and although he did not always translate these into results in the races – and he had several serious accidents – it showed significant signs of progress.
So Williams, no longer owned by the Williams family but by the American investment company Dorilton Capital, decided to continue Sargeant’s racing development next year – after carefully studying all the data of the 23-year-old driver’s year after the Abu Dhabi GP.
“Logan has shown great ability under the pressure of the world stage and that made him a perfect fit for our team.” said Williams F1 director James Vowles. “We have full confidence in his abilities and believe that together we can achieve greater success in the coming season.”
With his points victory at the US GP (in Texas, after Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified), Sargeant became the first American driver in 30 years to score a point in Formula One.
“It’s been an amazing journey with the team so far and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to develop as a rider among a talented and dedicated group of people. We have exciting plans for the future and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success in the coming year.” Sargeant said when announcing his new contract.
