Fernando Alonso: “I had the best F1 season of my career at the age of 42”
Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso believes that he is having one of the best seasons of his career at the age of 42. The two-time world champion finished the 2023 season in 4th place in the overall rankings.
“When I feel like I’m slowing down, I’ll be the first to put my hands up and say it’s time to finish. I am 42 years old, but I am extremely confident in my abilities. I had the best season of my career. This is my best season, along with the 2012 championship. I think this season is the best season in terms of driving. “I was motivated, I was physically ready.”
“The thing that might force me to retire is an overloaded calendar. This year there were 22 races, next year there should be 24. To have three races in three weeks like now is difficult for everyone,” Alonso said.
The driver’s contract expires after the 2024 season.
