Saint wants to stay at Ferrari until 2027

According to the Italian press, Carlos Sainz is rejecting the 1+1 year contract reportedly offered by Scuderia as he says his goal is to stay at Maranello for many more years – and become champions with the Italian team.

Unlike Charles Leclerc, who has reportedly already agreed a new five-year contract – with double salary – that will keep him at Maranello until the end of 2029, things are more complicated for Carlos Sainz. The Italian press is sure that Scuderia does not want to tie the Spaniard down for so many years.

But that’s exactly what the 29-year-old wants – and the negotiations between the two sides have stalled for the time being. Saith also reportedly wants the new contract to be finalized and signed in Bahrain before the start of the new season on March 1-2, 2024.

There are rumors about what they are offering me, but all this is being written without knowing the facts and I will not enter into a discussion based on speculation.” Saith said behind the scenes at a sponsorship event in Madrid.

Scuderia Ferrari press office

We have to agree, and we have three months to do so – until the first league game. Of course I want the update [του συμβολαίου] and I would like her for more than a year.

I feel absolutely valued by Fred [Βασέρ, διευθυντή της ομάδας] and from her entire family Ferrari, and for a driver this is the main priority. I am convinced that we will come to an agreement if we both want it.added the Spaniard.

Leclerc and Sainz’s current contracts with Scuderia expire at the end of 2024, and the latter says he needs to know before the start of the year whether it will be extended: “The reality is that there have been discussions, as Fred said the other day. I need to start figuring out where I will be in 2025.

I wouldn’t want to start [τη χρονιά] I don’t know what my goal will be. My first priority is Ferrari, and stay there for many years. It’s no secret, it’s a team that I feel very comfortable with. We have to come to an agreement in the next few months.”Saint added.

Finally, regarding the 2024 competition and the question of whether Scuderia can threaten Red Bull for the title, he emphasized: “I think Max didn’t have to drive 100% in all races [του 2023] and that’s what scares me the most. That’s why I say this Ferrari that our improvement should not be 4 tenths [στο γύρο]but 6 tenths.

We have to find the reason why we lose that little extra step in the races. On Saturday we will see that we are not that far, but in the race they have three tenths or half a second and we finish 30 seconds behind them. We made the mistake of driving in the wrong direction, as our car showed in mid-2022. We thought we weren’t that far away. The same thing happened in “Mercedes”concluded the Ferrari driver.

It all depends on Hamilton. Its decision will determine the fate of the pilot market

Former Red Bull and Aston Martin chief engineer Dan Fellows believes significant changes in the Formula 1 driver market in the coming years will depend on Lewis Hamilton’s decision.

The seven-time world champion had a difficult first season with Ferrari, failing to reach the podium once in all 24 Grands Prix. For the first time in his career, Hamilton finished a season without finishing in the top three.

Amid these difficulties, suggestions have emerged that the Briton could retire from Formula 1 after the 2026 season.

Fellows said Hamilton would not want to stay in the championship unless he had a competitive car.

Fellows said: “I believe Hamilton is the key figure in the driver market. It is easy to compare him to Fernando Alonso; although last season was difficult for him, he is still capable of performing at a high level.” he said.

Fellowes added: “Lewis wants to be competitive. He wants a car that can win races. If he doesn’t do that, I’m not sure he wants to continue.”

Ferrari now has a young driver named Oliver Berman, who races for Haas and is considered one of the main candidates for promotion. According to Fellows, if Hamilton decides to retire early, this could start a chain reaction in the driver market.

Fellows said: “If he decides to leave, he will probably announce it in advance so Ferrari has time to prepare. This could require many changes. Berman is the obvious option, but not the only one.”

Is there one minus one contender left for the championship? F1 team bets for the 2027 season

Is there one minus one contender left for the championship? F1 team bets for the 2027 season

One of the most anticipated projects of the 2026 season is Aston Martin with the first car designed by Adrian Newey. In the summer of 2025, the brilliant coach joined the team and his experience in reading the rules already made itself felt.

According to sources, the project ran into difficulties: data from the wind tunnel and simulations were inaccurate, so Newey ordered the wind tunnel to be reconfigured and the software rewritten. This made it possible to identify weak points of the concept and make changes to the design of the car without disrupting the program.

Aston Martin sees the 2026 season as a transition period: In the first half of the year, work will progress in two directions: optimizing the layout and integration of the power plant, as well as improving aerodynamic efficiency, and the final configuration of the car is expected to be done by the summer holidays.

All preparations for the first half of 2026 will form the basis of the 2027 car, on which all hopes are pinned.

F1 driver in talks with Ferrari: I want them to understand what’s going on

British driver Oliver Berman said he regularly discusses his performance in Formula 1 with Ferrari team boss Fred Vasser.

Berman is preparing for his second season in F1 with Haas after a successful first year in 2025. Despite being contracted to Haas, Berman is part of Ferrari’s youth academy and has previously been floated as a potential candidate to join the team should a position become available.

The pilot emphasizes that his discussions with Vasser concern only his current job behind the wheel and not his future place at Ferrari.

“Sometimes we exchange ideas about the challenges I’ve faced this season,” Berman said.

This is an open dialogue. I want them to understand what’s going on from my perspective because on paper you only see the result and that doesn’t always show the whole picture. The future is not discussed in the conversations. “I’m just driving the car and it will be decided whether I show a good level or not.”

Berman already had the opportunity to drive for Ferrari when he replaced the ailing Carlos Sainz at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Now a full-fledged racing driver, he gets advice from Ferrari on what he should work on in his driving.

“There is no feedback, positive or negative. I just discuss the difficulties I encountered. Future regulations are also important: I have the same engine as Ferrari. Sometimes they point out areas that need improvement. But for me it is a natural process; I get better as I gain experience.”
