Dani Pedrosa He was part of the “DAZN” team broadcasting the German MotoGP Grand Prix. The KTM one took to the “Box Zero” section over the weekend to analyze the D.Differences between Marc Marquez’s Ducati and Honda riding at Jerez Angel Nieto and Austin CircuitThe turns on the Golden Wing bike are from 2019, while the turns on the 2024 prototype are from the same 2024.

“One of the first differences we see is that back then He didn’t put his right foot forward under braking (Turn 1 at Jerez). Now, Ducati, yeah.. More than anything, Marc looks more aggressive under braking (with Honda)at least that’s how the motorcycle moves. We see the motorcycle become much more reactive, changing the style with a drier movement and always needing to be in control of the desired gestures that the motorcycle makes. The Ducati is a quieter, more stable motorcycle, it moves smoother and you don’t have to correct inappropriate motorcycling behaviour every four metres.”Pedrosa argues.

The KTM representative added: “When braking (curves 1 and 2), you can see that the Honda’s body position is more compressed.as if it were more compact. AndThe Ducati has a more stretched positionThe Honda is more abrupt. The Ducati is a much quieter bike. The lines are a little rounder than the Honda.a bike where I was usually looking for loss of rear grip. A lot of that is down to the change in tires, as the rubber has more grip than before. Especially the rear.

Asked if what was needed now was improved cornering, Pedrosa explained: “The rear tyre will be a bit softer, giving more grip at maximum lean.” The increased grip and speed allows you to spend more time on that part of the curve, saving you time there.. Here it is, There is no longer any need to tip the bike over at the entrance to a curve and look for a “V” layout, as with Honda and other casing layouts. Now, in the middle part of the curve, you lean the bike over more and try to not get your minimum speed so low. It increases. So you get a longer exit of the curve without having to lift the bike as much at the max exit.”

At the Circuit of the Americas

Comparing Marc Marquez’s 2019 and 2024 seasons, where he is currently based at the Austin Circuit, he explains that the ’26’ “will feature one of the most powerful braking turns (Turn 12) in the championship.” The Honda marque relies heavily on the front axle and uses the brakes as much as possible.. Instead, The Ducati places more weight at the rear and uses engine braking on the rear wheel to help stop the bike.On the Ducati he doesn’t have to be so aggressive. On the Honda he comes in with a sideways slip from behind and then crosses the bike a little harder at the apex.”

Pedrosa summarises that Marquez’s move from Honda to Ducati has allowed him to grow. The maneuvers are “definitely a lot less aggressive than they were before.”The bike made him faster, but the bike didn’t ask him to be as aggressive. Tyres don’t like sudden pressure changes that can be caused by hard braking, rolling the bike or taking a hard fall.“The difference between Marquez on the Honda and Marquez on the Ducati is clear: he’s more aggressive.”
