Emery wanted Nico Williams at Aston Villa
Athletic take on Aston Villa in England tonight, with Unai Emery’s side being one of the first teams to express an interest in the services of Nico Williams, after reports surfaced in the British press early last January that the red-and-white striker had rejected an offer from the Villains.
The Daily Mail reported in its digital edition that “Aston Villa were prepared to launch a £45 million release action against Spain star Nico Williams before the Athletic Bilbao attacker rejected a £120,000-a-week deal (around €136,000) from the Premier League team.”
The Red and Whites will not be taking part in today’s friendly in Birmingham.
