The multiple winner of Dakar will return to the race seven months after amputation of the leg
The multiple winner of the Dakar Rally Mathiem will return to the race only seven months after the loss of the right leg as a result of a traffic accident, the press service of the X -Raid team reports.
At the end of January, Bomel received serious injuries when the car knocked it down. He was shot down by a 73 -year -old woman when he was on the sidelines of the road and helped two participants in the Monte -Carlo rally.
The man was introduced into the artificial one and transferred the amputation of his right leg.
After the intensive period of rehabilitation, Bomel will take part in Baja Sharish – a race of four special stages and a prologue, which will be held in Portugal from September 11 to 14.
– Seven months have passed since my accident. I still need to train my left leg, and my prosthesis also needs refinement. But now I have all the necessary documents for racing. Therefore, I want to return to the track as soon as possible, ”said 49 -year -old Bomel.
Bomel is a four -time winner of Dakara paired with pilot Nasser Al -Attia.
