Bautista falls down at Motorland in new demonstration of Razgatlioglu power
Toprak Razgatrioglu (BMW) wins 13th consecutive World Superbike victory By winning the first race of the Aragon Grand Prix, held at the Motorland circuit in Alcañiz (Teruel), Alvaro Bautista (Ducati) crashed and was unable to complete the race.
The Turk again emerged victorious from a close battle with Italy’s Nicolo Brega (Ducati), who was the best in the last Superpole, and although he tried everything, he could not defeat the Ottoman.
The BMW driver took command and managed the race to finish narrowly in the lead, closing all the gaps on his rivals and taking a more than precious victory by just 0.030 points, while Britain’s Sam Lowes (Ducati) rounded out the podium, but in the end he was unable to catch up with his opponent, giving up almost a second.
Bautista was trying to pass Italy’s Danilo Petrucci, but crashed with six laps remaining. (Ducati) He settled for fourth place, but it was yet another blow to a more than complicated season for the Talavera-born rider.
Razgatlioglu leads the way with an overall World Cup score of 494, with Brega remaining with 450 points, moving him closer to his third title.Petrucci (273), fellow Italian Andrea Locatelli (Yamaha) (245) and Bautista (230).
The highest Spanish finisher is Xavi Vierge (Honda), 9th place.Tito Rabat (Honda) finished 17th.
