Almeida recovers squad and prepares for match against Mallorca

Matias Almeida The Sevilla manager is already preparing for this Saturday’s match against Mallorca, when league play resumes after the break in international competition, and he is also preparing for the return of the national team. Already on Tuesday this week, the Argentine coach was able to include Odyseas Brachodimos in the group, and on Sunday he returned to the goal of Greece, who missed out on the World Cup after losing against Denmark.

The German goalkeeper has performed at a very high level for Sevilla and is a key figure in Almeida’s plans. Along with Chile’s Gabriel Suazo, he was one of the first players to return after Greece lost twice to Scotland and Denmark. The left-back only played this time in the friendly against Peru, which La Roja won and was captain of. Suazo was already in action with the group on Monday this week and was the first to arrive in Seville, unlike on the previous break, when he was unable to start against Elche due to a delay in joining due to the match in Chile and the long journey from the other side of the sea.

Switzerland’s Djibril So and Ruben Vargas, Serbia’s Nemanja Guderi, Norway’s Orjan Nyland and Nigeria’s Akol Adams have yet to return to the capital Seville.

Meanwhile, Tanguy Nianzou and Alfon González continue to work outside the group and aim to recover. Meanwhile, Joan Jordao and Adnan Januzaj took part in the production directed by Almeida this Tuesday. The center fielder is the only outfielder to make his debut under the new manager after overcoming a slipped disc surgery he underwent this summer. The Belgian winger suffered a severe sprain in his ankle during the league break and was forced to play in the match against Barcelona with the injury still recovering.

VIDEO. The F1 team failed to complete three laps. The rookie’s car had an accident

Arvid Lindblad had a bad start to his Formula 1 career when he turned his new Racing Bulls VCARB03 car into a gravel trap during a race at the Imola circuit.

Earlier, Liam Lawson had the honor of completing the first lap of Red Bull Ford’s new engine in the wet conditions of the circuit, located just 15 km from the team’s Faenza base. As part of the demo day, which allowed a maximum distance of 15 kilometers (in this case three laps of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit), Lawson completed the installation lap without any problems.

The race was short-lived when British newcomer Lindblad took the wheel in the afternoon; He spun at the Variante Villeneuve chicane in the wet (turns 5-6) and got stuck in the gravel. A video on social media X showed VCARB03 being driven back to the pits by a tow truck. It was reported that the cause of the take-off was not pilot error, but the blocking of the rear brakes.

Lawson and Lindblad will return to the Imola circuit tomorrow (Wednesday) for the 200km shoot.

PHOTOGRAPH. New Audi Formula 1 team presents first appearance

Audi has unveiled its first livery, which will make its debut in Formula 1 in the 2026 season.

The driver line-up has not changed since 2025, when the team spent its last season under the Sauber name: Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will race for the team for the second season in a row.

The German team was the first to test the car on a filming day in Barcelona earlier this month and is preparing for testing to begin on January 23.

The team used the colors they had previously promised in their initial designs. The front of the car will be chrome gray and the rear will be red and black.

Previously, Red Bull, Racing Bulls and Haas have presented their own liveries.
