Xabi Alonso and the match against Miami: “The club is protecting its interests, so we’ll see what happens”
Xabi Alonso He appeared before the media on Wednesday to talk about tomorrow’s match between Turin’s Bernabéu and Juventus (9pm), the third day of the Champions League. In addition to talking about that match, the Basque also commented on other aspects of Real Madrid’s current situation.
match against juventus
“This is a classic European game. They have played against us many times and I have played in them too. We look very prepared. We want to win the Champions League for the third time and we want to get off to a very good start. We need a stadium. People go to the Bernabéu because they want to see a big game. We have to give it to them so they can respond too.”
How far will the club go in the showdown with Miami?
“You have asked me several questions about this match, but I have already answered them and my opinion is clear. The club is protecting its interests and we will see what happens.”
Cause of Neo Vinicius
“The reason is that Vinicius is very good and fundamental. Decisive. It’s nice to see Vinicius smiling and having fun. We talked about the impact he can have and how he can change the game. We need him to focus on the game and what he’s good at. His daily routine is good and his reactions in the match are also very good.”
Comparison between Vern Güller and Ozil
“Yes, it’s not just where they come from. It’s the combination of Ozil and Guti. Guti had the quality to play in the build-up and the last pass. Same with Mesut. We had a lot of fun with Ozil. The more we found Arda, the more we improved. We have to keep pushing him. We are very happy with him.”
Endrik and possible transfer
“I already answered the other day, but we are not at that stage yet. The competition for the top is fierce. We have to prepare for each game. Endrik, Gonzalo and Brahim need to be ready. They will be there, because there are a lot of games and we need to prepare. This is elite and we need a lot of good players.”
This Real Madrid needs Xabi Alonso
“I hope it doesn’t happen (laughs). We are going to go all the way with this team. We are growing, we can play well, we can always compete. We have a complete team with different qualities. A dynamic with the potential to grow. Our job is to invest in them so that they get better at the end of the season. We want to compete now, and we’re doing it well with the ambition to improve.”
Juventus vs. Como, Nicopas match
“Yes, I saw it. Como played a very well-planned match by Cesc. Let’s hope Juve are different. We know Juve well. Nico has taken a very smart step since last year. Looking to the future, now is not the time.”
Juventus lacked quality or just bad moments
“We are wary of Juve tomorrow. Any Italian who plays poorly can be dangerous. We don’t remember how Milan got there, but we remember how the game was. We don’t need to forget history. Juve was and is It’s a great team, we have very good players, and Yildiz is one of them. He has developed very well. He was at Bayern when I was there, so I’m very happy to see him develop.”
Loss, Juventus and Clasico
“Looking at tomorrow, I don’t think either Huisen, Trent or Carvajal will arrive. We will give the final report on Saturday.”
mbappe
“It’s not just the goals. His influence is just as important for his teammates to follow him, with and without the ball. He’s helping us. He’s scoring goals everywhere. It’s not just the scoring, it’s the influence that the team needs. Personally, Kylian is in a very good period. He does things for a reason, so he has to understand it very well. That’s why he is performing so well.
The role of Courtois and Casillas
“Tib is the best in the world. He is also interested in the game. In the future he could be a coach. It’s important for a coach to have connections with players who want to understand football. I had great things with Iker. We can’t be together anymore. Now I have Tib, but Iker is Iker.”
Camavinga
“We have just started signing Eduardo. He has only been here for a few weeks, but the last three weeks have been dynamic. He hasn’t played for Madrid for a long time, but he has done a lot of things well. As a midfielder he has dynamism and has a very different way of passing through the lines than other players. His personal qualities should fit into the team.”
Mastatuono
“He is an 18-year-old who recently arrived. We have to invest in him and help him. We are happy that he can be with us.”
Juventus danger
“Juve are a very tactically rich team. They change positions often and rotate well. If we don’t adjust well, we can lose our balance. In that respect, we have to be good with the ball, position ourselves vertically and take the game where we want to go.”
Zidane and the Champions League final, Real Madrid vs. Juventus
“Zidane will definitely have a fresh game, but I remember that they dominated from start to finish. What they did was amazing. I have a lot of respect for Zizou.”

It has become clear who Hamilton will work with at Ferrari during the tests
Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton will start the 2026 season with a new race engineer and Italian media have already revealed who will work with the Briton in pre-season testing in Barcelona.
Last week, Ferrari officially announced that Hamilton would no longer work with Riccardo Adami as race engineer. The decision comes after a busy 2025 season that included a series of awkward radio conversations between pilot and engineer.
The partnership has not worked out since Hamilton’s first year with the team, and Ferrari boss Fred Vasser confirmed the makeup of the engineering staff would be reviewed at the end of last season. It was later learned that Adami would remain with the team but would move to another position: director of the Ferrari Driver Academy and head of the previous car testing program (TPC).
While the team is looking for a permanent replacement, Corriere della Sera reports that Charles Leclerc’s engineer Brian Bozzi will temporarily act as Hamilton’s race engineer during pre-season closed testing, which starts in Barcelona on January 26. According to the source, only one SF-26 vehicle will be used in the tests, which will be shared by both pilots, so Bozzi will work with two drivers at the same time.
Ferrari did not give any official reason for breaking off cooperation with Adami, but public misunderstandings arose several times throughout the season. Already at the Australian Grand Prix, Hamilton expressed surprise at the lack of information on the radio, in Miami he reacted sharply to the tactical decisions of the team, and in Monaco a situation arose in which the driver thought that the engineer was ignoring him. A similar incident occurred at the last stage of the season in Abu Dhabi, after which Adami apologized and explained this by communicating on the command bridge.
All these moments reinforced the impression that Hamilton and Adami had never quite found a common language, and the personnel changes made on the eve of the 2026 season were the logical conclusion of this difficult partnership.

VIDEO. The F1 team failed to complete three laps. The rookie’s car had an accident
Arvid Lindblad had a bad start to his Formula 1 career when he turned his new Racing Bulls VCARB03 car into a gravel trap during a race at the Imola circuit.
Earlier, Liam Lawson had the honor of completing the first lap of Red Bull Ford’s new engine in the wet conditions of the circuit, located just 15 km from the team’s Faenza base. As part of the demo day, which allowed a maximum distance of 15 kilometers (in this case three laps of the Enzo and Dino Ferrari circuit), Lawson completed the installation lap without any problems.
The race was short-lived when British newcomer Lindblad took the wheel in the afternoon; He spun at the Variante Villeneuve chicane in the wet (turns 5-6) and got stuck in the gravel. A video on social media X showed VCARB03 being driven back to the pits by a tow truck. It was reported that the cause of the take-off was not pilot error, but the blocking of the rear brakes.
Lawson and Lindblad will return to the Imola circuit tomorrow (Wednesday) for the 200km shoot.

PHOTOGRAPH. New Audi Formula 1 team presents first appearance
Audi has unveiled its first livery, which will make its debut in Formula 1 in the 2026 season.
The driver line-up has not changed since 2025, when the team spent its last season under the Sauber name: Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto will race for the team for the second season in a row.
The German team was the first to test the car on a filming day in Barcelona earlier this month and is preparing for testing to begin on January 23.
The team used the colors they had previously promised in their initial designs. The front of the car will be chrome gray and the rear will be red and black.
Previously, Red Bull, Racing Bulls and Haas have presented their own liveries.
