Brega defeats Razgatogriu on the first lap of Jerez, title decided in race 2
The Superbike World Championship will be decided this afternoon (2pm/DAZN and TDP) in Race 2 of the final round at Jerez, with a controversial maneuver through the fifth corner of the opening lap of the Superpole race. Nicolo BregaCandidates actively sneak into the World Cup leader and defending champion, Toprak Razgatrioland with that touch he sent him to the ground, prematurely ending “El Turco’s” career.
Brega immediately ran away, and by the time he received a long-lap penalty for irresponsible maneuvering, he had gained such an advantage that victory was never in danger, ahead of teammates Alvaro Bautista and Andrea Iannone, delaying Toprak’s chances of victory until the afternoon and infuriating the Turkish fans in Jerez.
The Turkish rider finished seventh after 10 laps of the Andalucía circuit and started second behind title rival Brega. The Italian has dropped 12 points from Razgatlioglu and now has 22 points, with 25 at stake in the afternoon. No matter what Brega does, No. 13 will be worth Toprak.
Sad farewell to the legendary Rhea
The bad news arrived in the early stages as the six-time world champion passed turn three. Jonathan RayOn his last day as a superbike rider, he crashed with Remy Gardner and was carried away on a stretcher with a sprained right knee. Doctors declared them “unfit” to compete in Race 2 at Jerez, and in the most unfair way the mythical “65” ended his record-breaking career.
