We had to wait until matchday 12 to see how the three Catalan teams in this Group 2 fulfilled their promise and achieved victory.

Adei Benítez’s Europa remain second to struggling Fernando Torres’ Atlético Madrileño but deserved to earn more in this match against Cartagena, who must improve and become more ambitious if they want to return to the Hypermotion League.

Third-placed Sabadell had a tough time beating bottom-placed Betis Deportivo, as the winning goal (1-2) didn’t come until the 96th minute. Haleknados focused on Rodrigo Escudero, who was the driving force behind the team’s two goals.

After accumulating only one point in their previous three games, Gimnastic de Tarragona, led by Cristóbal Pallaro, who performed in front of their fans, tasted victory again but had to suffer an uncertain result (1-0) against a courteous Marbella side who need to resurface under new manager David Movilla. Nastic are currently in 8th place, just two points behind the Nobles.

52 yellow cards

In the 10 games played that day, a total of 52 yellow cards were shown, six of which resulted in sending offs. One of them went to Alassane Diatta (Villarreal B) for a double warning, while the other five direct red cards were for the following players: Alberto Corrado (Sevilla Atlético) “hit his head in the opponent’s face when he wasn’t fighting for the ball.” Alex Serradel (Eldense) “hit the opponent with excessive force even though the ball was out of reach.” Kevin Sanchez (Cartagena) “used excessive force and slammed his opponent’s leg into a plank at knee height.” Iván Martínez (Cartagena) “made an obscene protest from the bench and gestured against the referee’s decision”
