Jonathan Rea will be Honda’s test rider at WorldSBK
Jonathan Rea continues to be involved in the Championship even after retiring. He returns to the manufacturer where he started his career in WorldSBK and will contribute his experience to the development of the CBR1000RR-R.
The 38-year-old driver will retire from driving at the end of the 2025 season, ending one of the most successful careers in two-wheeled racing. 119 victories, 264 podiums and 6 world titles, all of which are absolute records in this category.
“HRC explained their plans and the role they wanted me to play, and I was excited to see how I could contribute. It’s like closing a circle. We return to Honda, the brand that started our WorldSBK journey. And I got my first win. “It’s different from competing full-time, but this new challenge keeps me motivated,” the pilot commented on his new role.
”I would like to contribute all the experience I have cultivated to date to the development of the CBR1000RR-R. and the Honda HRC team. I’m also very happy to be working again with Chris Pike, leader of the Honda HRC test team and my former technical boss. I share great memories and a lot of respect with him. We are confident that together we can build something important for the future. I’m looking forward to getting started! ” he added.
