LECLERC: “He deserves his title. I hope I can stop him next year.”
Ferrari pilot Charles Leclerc commented on Lando Norris’ championship in Formula 1 and said that the Briton’s success was great.
In the second half of the season, the McLaren driver led the general classification, showing consistently good results and regularly being ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri. However, as Red Bull picked up the pace in the final stages of the championship, Norris faced a serious challenge from Max Verstappen.
At the end of the season, Verstappen lost to Norris by just two points, allowing the Briton to win his first Formula One championship.
Commenting on his opponent’s victory, Leclerc said:
“That’s why I love our sport so much, because of the emotion. No matter how much you want to beat your opponents, it’s really cool to see the happiness on Lando’s face.”
This is the biggest dream of each of us in the peloton. He did it this year and I’m so happy for him. He deserves it.”
The season has been difficult for Ferrari and Leclerc; The Italian team did not win a single Grand Prix. However, Monegasque is optimistic about the future because next year a new technical era will begin in Formula 1.
“Now it’s my turn to keep fighting and make Lando’s life a little harder next year,” Leclerc said.
