Attended esports commission meeting on January 20th
The Esports Committee of the Catalan Parliament is preparing for an intensive session on January 20th (4pm) in which some of the key players in the crisis rocking the Catalan Football Federation (FCF) will appear. FCF Secretary General Oriol Camacho’s name has been mentioned. Miguel Ángel Galán, President of the Sports Transparency Association. Sergi Garrido, FCF Deputy Secretary. Jose Miguel Cal, FCF General Director. In addition to representatives of the Catalan Anti-Frau Office, FCF President Sotelas Vigo was also present.
The session comes weeks after the attendance of Sports Minister Berni Álvarez, who defended the government’s actions in parliament. Attention has now shifted to federation officials and those who have publicly accused fraud in the electoral process and FCF governance.
Additionally, on the committee table is a formal petition signed by 441 Catalan football clubs calling for an extraordinary general meeting. The signatories are calling for explanations, clarification of responsibility and the initiation of a scenario to resolve the organizational situation in the Catalan Football Federation.
Although convening the council is not on the agenda, councilors assume it will be one of the main points of discussion, as Councilor Berni Álvarez has promised to act if the FCF fails to convene (as happened) and has so far remained silent on this as far as is known.
