Albert Arenas: “Marc Marquez remains a big word for Pedro Acosta. With his shoulder at 70%, he is able to make his body work perfectly and has special instincts.”
Albert Arenas The last Valencia Grand Prix marked the end of his World Championship career. MotoGP He spent five years in Moto2 and became Moto3 World Champion in 2020. The Catalan has had an up-and-down career, but being able to spend 10 years in the paddock is something only a few can boast about. And even fewer pilots can boast of having matched within the same structure as two pilots of their stature: Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta.
The one from Girona matched the one from Cervera at Gresini Racing last year. In 2024, Marc will compete in MotoGP with the Italians, while Albert will compete in Moto2. Additionally, they have been spotted training together several times. On the other hand, he was a boxing partner with Acosta in 2023 when he belonged to Red Bull KTM Ajo in the intermediate category. For this reason, during our interview with Sportish Editorial Department, we asked Arenas about the two icons of the current MotoGP scene.
He used to meet Marquez during training and we were also together at Gresini. Did you expect the official Ducati to be so popular?
Yes, yes. After 2024, we saw what Mark became and how he worked. He is very good at creating an environment that involves you in every aspect and caters to Mark’s demands. This is causing the tsunami-like situation we have experienced this year. It destroyed everything.
You also know Pedro Acosta very well. Is he the only one who can beat Marquez given the right bike, or is that just a big statement?
Hehe…for now, those are still important words. Indeed, he is a pilot with speed above average. From what I’ve seen, you can go fast on any bike, in any configuration. This doesn’t happen with all drivers, but I don’t think he can reach Marc’s level because he is still very young. Mark has something that only he has. It’s a special instinct. But clearly Acosta can learn a lot, and the more he learns, the better he gets.
But Marc always knows how to make the stars align. He has that mentality and the team always adds to it and always has the speed. Even with his shoulder at 70%, he is able to make his body work perfectly and adjust everything around him to make sure it is positive.
When you train with him, do you realize, “I can’t do that line or curve like he does”?
It’s spectacular to watch him not only play in MotoGP, but also train. But I want to say again and again that in training we all get along very well. With the arrival of MotoGP, there are many more factors and all you need to train is the bike and yourself. Everyone can go faster when there are fewer elements. It happens to me too. During training, I am one of the fastest athletes. When it comes to competitions, it’s a different story. It’s not just you and your bike that matters.
For example, Joan Mille. When I was at Honda with Marc, Joanne was training at Arcanis Karting and she had a track record and Marc and all of us were there, but then they ended up going to Honda. There was a big difference between Mark and Joan.
I’ve said this before, but during competition, everything has to be in sync. Also, the pressure of participating in a race is not the same as the pressure of participating in training. The ability you need to push yourself in a race is not the same as the ability other drivers have. After all, it’s the only key to explaining the differences that exist, or why one wins and the other doesn’t. Because while you might win the race, everything came together to win that day. But the consistency that Marc achieves, or the consistency that it takes to win a World Cup, it’s not something you win by chance, rather it’s something you create around yourself and then you can repeat it.

Formula 1. Presentation of the first Audi car. Watch LIVE online
One of the two new teams on the Formula 1 grid is preparing to introduce its car for the 2026 season. The Audi team will officially reveal the new car at a special event in Berlin on Tuesday, January 20.
Audi has fully taken over Sauber’s project ahead of the 2026 season and will start its first Formula 1 championship as a factory team and power unit manufacturer. The team has also retained a significant portion of its 2025 Sauber structure, including team boss Jonathan Whitley and drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg.
This will make Audi the fourth team to submit designs for its 2026 car, after Red Bull, Racing Bulls and Haas. The presentation will take place in the German capital in the format of a full-fledged seasonal launch.
Following the main event, a separate event will be held in Berlin on Wednesday, January 21 for selected fans and media to take a closer look at the new car and its livery.
The presentation will start on January 20 at 20:00 Kyiv time. During the event, the team will reveal the car’s full design for the 2026 season.
Let’s remember that Audi had previously put the 2026 car on the track during promotional races at the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit in early January, but only a limited number of images were released at that time.

Audi will pay 1 million 250 thousand Euros to the driver for winning the Formula 1 race
Formula 1 driver Nico Hulkenberg can count on a multimillion-dollar bonus in his first season with Audi if he can repeat the results in the 2025 season.
Last season, the German pilot reached the Formula 1 podium after 250 races for the first time in his career and finished the British Grand Prix in third place. At Silverstone, Hulkenberg was ahead of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and scored 15 points in one go.
Hulkenberg scored 51 points at the end of the 2025 season.
On the eve of Audi’s first season, specialized media reported that the 38-year-old pilot signed a contract providing a bonus of 50 thousand euros for each point earned in the 2026 season.
Given the large-scale changes in Formula 1, even the pilots themselves cannot yet predict the balance of power in the peloton. However, if Hulkenberg scores 51 points again, the bonus can reach 2 million 550 thousand euros in addition to his base salary at Audi.
If Nico manages to win the race and score the maximum 25 points, this will immediately earn him a bonus of 1,250,000 euros.
The team will present the appearance of its first car today at 20:00 Kyiv time.

F1 pilot’s brother became Ukrainian pilot’s rival in Formula 4
Thomas Berman, the younger brother of Haas Formula 1 team driver Oliver Berman, will officially take part in Italian Formula 4 and Euro 4 in the 2026 season.
Thomas will represent the VAR team colours.
The 16-year-old Briton spent last year in British Formula 4, where he scored one win and finished eighth in the final season standings.
But the ones that are considered the most prestigious and promising are the Italian and European Formula 4 championships. They are often chosen by young pilots for further career advancement. In addition, Thomas’ older brother Oliver Berman also competed in these series and became the Italian Formula 4 champion in 2021 with 11 wins.
Let us also remind you that Ukrainian Alexander Bondarev will compete in the same championships with the Prima Racing team in the 2026 season. The Ukrainian pilot does not hide his ambitions and has repeatedly expressed his intention to fight for the championship title.
Bondarev now participates in Middle East Formula 4 in preparation for the European leg of the season. After the first stage, he took first place in the general rankings and became the leader in the rankings.
Thomas Berman will compete in the Formula Winter Series as part of his preparations.
The competition between the current “four” promises to be extremely high, and the appearance of the younger brother of the Formula 1 pilot will only increase interest in the series.
