It’s been 12 years since the terrible tragedy that changed Michael Schumacher’s life
Today the world of Formula 1 remembers one of the most tragic dates in its history. Exactly 12 years ago, in 2013, it was learned that seven-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher suffered a serious traumatic brain injury while skiing in the French resort of Meribel.
Following the incident, Schumacher underwent several surgeries and was placed in an induced coma, coming out of the coma in the summer of 2014. Since then, the legendary German racer has needed constant maintenance and details of its condition have been kept strictly confidential.
For the champion’s wife, Corinne Schumacher, protecting Michael’s privacy is extremely important, as discussed in a recently released Netflix documentary.
Mick Schumacher in the same tape repeatedly emphasized the enormous influence of his father on his career and admitted that he would be ready to sacrifice everything for the opportunity to simply communicate with Michael.
Throughout 2025, the Schumacher family has not made any updates regarding the legendary driver’s health.
He also took part in a charity event by adding his initials “MS” to Sir Jackie Stewart’s helmet, with the help of his wife Corinne. Contains the signatures of all living Formula 1 world champions.
