Betis and Sevilla in the same Dakar car: “Caninos al Dakar”: “We are proceeding in strict mode, but with a solidarity project”
The rear of the car says everything about the team formed by these two Sevillans. Raul Pascual and Marco Antonio Cabrera. Two friends who share a very strong passion are able to unite two shields that do not usually meet, two great rivals of the city of Seville, the king of sports, in the adventure of life. Betis and Seville. They both look proud toyota This is definitely one of the sets that best represents this magical appeal. dakara race that combines the world’s best athletes and their ambition to win with the race of two amateur dreamers who came to Dakar with the sole purpose of living the experience of life.
“Betico and Sevilla shared a car in the Dakar, which is great. Even though we are different teams, we have great respect for each other and the important thing is to have a good time, but above all we share a common hobby, the Dakar.” What separates football is united by the toughest race on the planet.
The best introduction to the Andalusian duo is their team name, Caninos Al Dakar. They are both dentists and the correct way to call the well-known fangs is to call them dogs. But that’s not all. “Most of all for the dog, because we are in tough mode. If we don’t have a penny, we will go to the Dakar Classic, which is the cheapest category.” he pointed out between laughs. raul To the bivouac Sportish in Yanbu.
Raul and Marco Antonio will make their debut at the Dakar Classic, achieving a goal they never thought possible. It all stemmed from a conversation at Raul’s clinic. There, Marco Antonio, who also owns his own clinic, also works as an orthodontist in the business of his current venture partner. They both shared a dream of going to Dakar, but despite having spent so much time working together, they were unaware of their common passion. One day they were surprised.
“We worked together for several years, but the topic of our car hobby never came up. Then one day, we suddenly started talking about cars. I started telling him about my love for karting, and he said that he sometimes switches cars. He told me, “I’ve sold some cars without even washing them.” He bought a car, drove it for three, five, six months, then sold it and bought another car, and he ended up having 40 cars. And he said to me: “But I have an outstanding debt.” And I said, “Mine is the desert, Marco.” And he said to me: “That can’t happen!” Neither do I.. It all started from there. They looked for the most economical way to accomplish this and considered races such as Panda Raid and Desert Trophy Panda, but there was no better place. They then purchased a panda, already registered with Desert Trophy Panda, and set out on an adventure.
Further tests followed, including the 2024 Rally Classics Africa. “We realized that there were so many levels of crews who used that test in preparation for the Dakar Classic, and we found that we were the only ones without a single sponsor. All the cars were covered in stickers and were completely bare. “We knew we had to knock on sponsors’ doors.”said Raul.
“We visited the buildings that were at that event and realized that the dream of the Dakar was closer than we had thought. I always thought of the Dakar as something utopian, but I also thought that the Dakar had the same or even greater ability than some of the pilots who had already competed in the Dakar. We learned that there were pilots with similar resources to us who had competed in the Dakar, and we started working to at least give it a shot,” recalled his lover Raul.
After that, they began a two-year project with the aim of making their Dakar Classic debut in 2027. They even wondered if anyone wanted to support them. “I know you’re very excited about things, but do you really think someone will give you money for this?” Marco Antonio told Raul. “I don’t think that’s going to happen…but what if it happens? Why don’t you try…” “I can’t think of anything to try,” he replied. They knocked on many doors, including suppliers. This is new to the field, and first they showed they had doubts. But the Sevilla duo were getting surprise after surprise when they saw how the sponsorships added up.
“Just when we thought we had lost it, the typical ‘Let’s do our research’ turned into, surprisingly, ‘Approved.’ Other implant brands were also interested, and when they saw one brand participating, they wanted another one as well.”. Which one said yes, it snowballed. It’s going to get bigger. And what was supposed to be a project to be tested in 2027 has already become a reality at the 2026 Dakar.. Moreover, they do it in an atypical way, alternating between behind the wheel and co-driver positions, with the sole aim of having fun and reaching the finish line.
solidarity project
This story is Totally Dakarian for the solidarity goals pursued by Marco Antonio and Raul in every race they participate in. What kind of competition do they want? Giving recognition to Seville’s Parceras Rosas association, which works to support cancer patients without financial resources In addition to helping people purchase wigs and clothing and access special treatment for their illnesses, they also provide psychological care for people affected by cancer and their families at all stages of the disease.
Raul and Marco want to spread solidarity and are handing out the association’s pink bracelets around the bivouac and encouraging the event’s most iconic pilots to make videos to spread the message with their presents. But they also want to share the joy that characterizes them. And specifically, Raul was also able to do that through the guitar, another of his great passions.
Pascual lives between the rocks of Flamenco and the desert. He plays guitar in the Hermanda del Rocio Choir in Seville. We also participated in many Brotherhood events throughout the year, from a Christmas concert in a theater to a performance at a private Ferrari event in Seville in 2025. Their next concert may take place at a restaurant in Dakar. “They’re already looking for a personal guitar.” He laughed and said to the MD in front of a bonfire in the Yanbu camp.
