Tebas: “La Liga has Clasico and I’m happy that it will be held in Arabia”
Javier Tebaspresident of la ligaadmitted that his opinion on the Spanish Super Cup controversy has changed after watching the last edition in Saudi Arabia, while congratulating FC Barcelona and Real Madrid on next Sunday’s final. “The league is happy that Clasico will go ahead,” said the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, who was in the Super Cup fan zone in Jeddah with Rafael Luzán, president of the association.
“I have never criticized Spain for hosting the Super Cup. It seemed like the right idea to me. I also said that perhaps Arabia was not the right country, but… after several visits I think it is a very suitable place,” he said, clarifying his previous analysis of the suitability of the venue.
“At the time, I was critical. I thought this country was not suitable, but I changed my mind. It is a very suitable country,” he said.
Asked whether FC Barcelona is in a position to act immediately in the transfer market regarding the 1/1 rule, Tebas did not delve into the matter, citing the circumstances and not knowing the current details of Barça’s “fair play”.
