VIDEO. Ferrari decided on the name of its new generation car
Ferrari Formula 1 team announced the name of the car it will race in the 2026 season. The new car was named SF-26, continuing the traditional naming scheme where SF stands for Scuderia Ferrari and the numbers correspond to the year of competition.
Last season was difficult for the Italian team; The team failed to claim a single victory in the Grand Prix. It turned out to be difficult for Lewis Hamilton, who completed the championship without a podium for the first time in his career. Against this background, Ferrari has decided to shift its focus to preparations for 2026, when a large-scale update to the technical regulations will come into force in Formula 1, ahead of schedule.
Team principal Fred Wasser avoided answering questions about the name of the car at the end of 2025, but now it is official. Ferrari hopes betting on early development of the SF-26 will help the team return to contention for championships, last won in 2008.
The introduction of the new Ferrari car is planned to be held on January 23 at the Fiorano track.
