VIDEO. New F1 team runs its own engine for the first time
Audi has run its own Formula 1 engine for the first time as it prepares for its debut season in 2026. The team, which purchased the entire Sauber in 2024, had previously used Ferrari engines (except for the BMW 2006-2009 period) and now enters the series with its own power plant.
The launch took place at its base in Hinwil on 19 December and was the first time the new engine was included in the chassis for the 2026 season. Audi is working on the project in three locations: Hinwil (Switzerland), Neuburg (Germany) and Bickester (England).
Audi will hold a season presentation in Berlin on January 20, as well as testing in Barcelona (January 26-30) and Bahrain (February 11-13 and 18-20) before the Australian Grand Prix.
