Perez on his career at Red Bull: “They told me it was Max’s team and for Max”
Former Red Bull pilot Sergio Perez, who was removed from the team at the end of 2024, talked about his racing experience with 4-time champion Max Verstappen.
“I was in the best team in Formula 1 and I was Verstappen’s teammate. Being Max’s partner is the worst job in Formula 1. The whole team was built around Verstappen.”
“They told me: ‘Look, we have two cars because those are the rules, but the project was created for Max, he is our first and only number.’
“Everyone in the team was a problem. If I’m faster than Max, that’s a problem. If you’re falling behind, that’s a problem. But I’m grateful to Red Bull and Max for this experience. They created the best team and dominated F1,” said Perez.
The Mexican driver, who missed the 2025 season, returns to F1 with the Cadillac team in 2026.
