The favorite of the 2026 F1 season announced the launch date of the new generation car
The Mercedes team has officially confirmed its plans to introduce a Formula 1 car for the 2026 season as the new championship approaches.
The new W17 car will be shown for the first time in the format of online demonstrations on January 22. Thus, Mercedes will be the fourth team to present its car on the eve of the start of the season. Currently, only Williams and reigning champion McLaren have yet to announce launch dates.
Mercedes finished the 2025 season in second place in the Constructors’ Championship, with two wins thanks to George Russell.
The online presentation of the W17 will take place just days before the first pre-season test of the year, which will be held behind closed doors in Barcelona.
And on February 2, Mercedes will hold a full-fledged team event with the presentation of the season with the participation of pilots, team management and the new car. The event can be watched online.
In the 2026 season, Mercedes will compete with the George Russell – Kimi Antonelli pair for the second time in a row, and Formula 1 will enter a new technical era in which Mercedes is provisionally named the main favorite of the championship.
