Anthony Hamilton, father of seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, has announced the creation of HybridV10, a new racing series that will combine hybrid technology with the sound of V10 engines that F1 fans miss.

Hybrid engines have been used in Formula 1 since 2014, and starting next season, the electric power of the power units will be tripled, ensuring a 50/50 balance between the internal combustion engine and electricity. In addition, the engines will be able to run on 100 percent environmentally friendly fuel.

The new HybridV10 series is positioned as an independent global motorsport festival and single-seater competition focused on excitement, innovation and accessibility. Organizers promise that the series will reproduce the sound of the legendary V10 while also being environmentally friendly.

“HybridV10 combines high-speed racing with technology, culture and fan participation to host festivals and races around the world,” reads the series’ official post.

“The basic principle is that racing should be authentic, competitive and accessible.”

More details about the series and driver eligibility criteria will be announced later this year.

Anthony Hamilton hopes hybrid engines with a similar V10 sound will become a new benchmark for fans, and F1 is likely to keep a close eye on the development of the HybridV10.
