In this context, Renault decided to suspend the development of its own engines. At the same time, new manufacturers have emerged in Formula 1: Audi and Honda have returned to Aston Martin, Cadillac will launch with its own units in 2028, and Red Bull has received technical support from Ford.

Before the start of the season and the first tests, most of the discussions are about engines. Ford, Red Bull and Mercedes have reportedly found a solution to compress the engine, which is expected to provide an advantage of up to 0.3 seconds per lap.

Against the background of all this, the season of team presentations begins, where updated liveries will be shown, and maybe someone will show off a full-fledged car before leaving the track. Red Bull will be the first team: today, December 16, they will present the colors together with their sister team Racing Bulls.

Before the official release, the team attracted the attention of fans by showing the first photo of the Red Bull-Ford joint engine, the first of its kind, on social networks. Specific technical details are not yet visible, but the team logo attracts attention.

1996 Formula 1 champion Damon Hill expressed his confidence in Lando Norris, believing that the British driver can win three or four championships during his career after his success last month.

Norris finished the 2025 season at the top of the standings, finishing third at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

This earned him a place on a list of world champions that includes only 35 drivers. It’s even rarer for a driver to win more than one championship, but Hill is confident Norris can extend his achievements to four or five trophies.

“He did that, and that provides a certain peace of mind,” Hill said.

“He will be able to relax to a certain degree. It all depends on your desire to win.”

McLaren has confirmed that Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fonaroli will be one of the team’s reserve drivers for the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Fonaroli joins current IndyCar driver Pato O’Warda as McLaren’s official reserve drivers and will also continue to serve in the team’s Driver Development Programme. As part of this program he will undergo intensive testing and work in a simulator to hone his skills and provide quality feedback to the team.

They will also take part in Friday practice sessions for incoming drivers who have completed fewer than two Grands Prix in Formula 1.
