Red flag and dramatic ending. Bondarev completes F4 qualifying
The important sessions of the first race weekend of the Middle East Formula 4 (UAE4) season, attended by Ukrainian driver Alexander Bondarev, started on Saturday, January 17, at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The day started with a training session in which the Ukrainian athlete showed the fastest time. He consolidated his result by leaving his closest rival by 0.3 seconds in the first heat, where he looked dominant.
The first half of the day ended with the second heat, which was more dramatic. 5-6 with 5 minutes left. The race was stopped with a red flag due to a driver accident in the corners. After the debris was cleared, the race restarted.
All drivers were ejected from the pits, causing most drivers except the top 5-10 drivers to be delayed due to crushing. At the restart Bondarev was in fourth place and had to start from second place, just 0.139 seconds behind the leader.
Within a few minutes, the Ukrainian managed to improve his time and took third place in the final attempt with a time of 1:55.699, just 0.025 seconds behind pole position.
The first race of the stage will take place today at 14.30 Kyiv time. The pilots will start according to the results of the second heat, that is, Bondarev will be the first.
