OFFICIALLY. Ferrari urgently replaces Hamilton’s race engineer
The Ferrari Formula 1 team has officially announced that Riccardo Adami will not be Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer in the 2026 season.
Hamilton and Adami worked together in the Briton’s first season with Ferrari in 2025. However, their collaboration has repeatedly come under scrutiny due to intense radio exchanges during races. On the eve of the new season, the team decided to make a change and separate the sides.
Riccardo Adami started his Formula 1 career with the Minardi team in 2002. He continued to work as part of Toro Rosso after the team came under the control of Red Bull, where he became a race engineer and collaborated with Daniel Ricciardo, Sebastian Buemi and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Adami moved to Ferrari alongside Vettel in 2015 and was his race engineer before the German moved to Aston Martin. The Italian driver has been working with Carlos Sainz since 2021, with whom he won four victories in the Scuderia.
Following Hamilton joining Ferrari to replace Sainz ahead of the 2025 season, Adami has been confirmed as the seven-time world champion’s race engineer. It comes after it was announced that Hamilton’s long-time engineer Peter Bonnington, who has been working at Mercedes, will not join him in Italy.
The appointment of new race engineer Lewis Hamilton will be announced at a later date.
