F1 team cars will leave the championship before the start of the 2026 season
According to The Race, Mercedes will be the sole supplier of Formula 1 safety and medical vehicles for the 2026 season, as Aston Martin will no longer be involved in this role.
Aston Martin shares responsibility for supplying safety cars with Mercedes from 2021, but the company has decided not to continue this practice next season. Their first attempts caused controversy: the redesigned Vantage F1 model was 45 kg heavier and had 200 hp. Weaker than Mercedes-AMG GT.
The reasons for Aston Martin’s decision to withdraw were not stated, but it may have been due to commercial reasons.
Mercedes, which has been providing safety vehicles to Formula 1 since 1996, has been using the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series model since 2022. The newest car is painted red with team sponsor CrowdStrike branding, which also provides commercial benefits. Medical car – Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S.
