VIDEO. McLaren starts the engine of its 2026 car
The McLaren team started the new season as two-time Constructors’ Championship champions after winning back-to-back championships for the first time in 34 years. He will also be number one in the car because Lando Norris became the world champion among drivers last season.
However, due to the biggest regulatory changes in Formula 1 history, particularly in terms of power units, there are serious questions about whether the team can repeat this year’s victory.
In 2026, powertrains will have an even power distribution of 50% from the internal combustion engine and 50% from the electrical system, making power management even more difficult for pilots. Also, MGU-H has been canceled and the focus is now on MGU-K.
McLaren continues its cooperation with Mercedes, which is considered by many to be the strongest supplier.
