10 former F1 drivers will participate in the 24-hour race this week
This weekend, one of the most prestigious races of the year, the Daytona 24 Hours, will take place. This year’s race promises to be extremely spectacular, because among the participants there are many familiar names from Formula 1, which will increase interest in the marathon and increase its prestige.
10 of the participants had previously competed in the “queen of motorsport”.
The top GTP class includes Kevin Magnussen (No. 25 BMW M Team WRT), Felipe Nasr (No. 7 Penske Motorsport Porsche), Will Stevens (No. 10 Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing DEX) and Jack Aitken (No. 31 Cadillac Whelan).
The LMP2 class also features a number of F1 contenders: Sebastien Bourdais (No. 8 Tower Motorsport), Logan Sargent (No. 18 Era Motorsport), Paul di Resta (No. 22 United Motorsport) and Pietro Fittipaldi (No. 73 Pratt Miller Motorsport).
In GTD, two former Formula 1 drivers also add prestige to the class: Romain Grosjean (#16 Myers Riley Motorsport) returns behind the wheel of the GT3 Ford Mustang and Marcus Ericsson (#45 Wayne Taylor Racing) drives the Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
