Formula 1, Monaco GP: Charles Leclerc felt comfortable in the second test
The Monaco dominance continued in the second phase of free practice at the Monaco GP.
With a best time of 1:12.656, Charles Leclerc was the commander in the second free test, this time with Pirelli soft tires on his Ferrari.
Behind him and only 44 milliseconds behind was his teammate. Carlos Saint completed Ferrari’s lead, leaving the third year to Sergio Perez, who was again quicker than Max Ferstappen.
The Mexican was less than four tenths of a second slower but 68 millimeters faster than the F1 world champion.
The fifth year belongs to Lando Norris, who slightly gilded the pill from Daniel Ricciardo’s accident. This week is a fiendish week for the Australian who lost the rear of the McLaren and hit the barriers on his first attempt in the pool section, forcing organizers to raise red flags and temporarily suspend FP2.
A tenth behind was George Russell with a car that Toto Wolff described as ‘unlead’ after FP1! FP2 was significantly worse for Lewis Hamilton, who made it in his 12th year in his Mercedes, 1.611s behind Leclerc.
Pierre Gusli again showed a very good picture with AlphaTauri in year 7, ahead of Fernando Alonso’s Alpine and Sebastian Vettel’s Aston Martin. Vettel also had a very scary moment in the corners of the pool but the German managed to regain control and dodge the barriers.
The top ten was chosen by Yuki Chunonda, with Kevin Magnussen’s Haas between Alpha Tauri and Hamilton.
The next free tests are scheduled for tomorrow Saturday at 14:00 Greek time.

A king was born on Boxing Day: Amorim’s United fielded four defenders for the first time
There was only one Premier League game, held on Friday December 26th, the traditional Boxing Day, but it was a very good match for Manchester United fans who have experienced so much disappointment of late. A 1-0 win against Newcastle was a relief for the Old Trafford side.
But it was more than that. Ruben Amorim, unwilling to change his philosophy despite his poor results, played with four players in defense for the first time at United.
United have changed in other ways as well. They won with a possession rate of 33.4%, the lowest of any Red Devils team this season. This was also the lowest since January 2023, when they scored 29.4 per cent in the win over Manchester City. And United had nine shots on goal compared to 16 for the Magpies.
Patrick Dorg’s first goal as a Manchester United player and his second “clean sheet” of the season opened the door to an unpretty but essential victory for Amorim’s side. Amorim admitted it was one of his “most satisfying” wins since taking charge of United. “We are suffering together. If we always have this spirit, we will win many games,” added the Portuguese coach. And all this happened without United football’s most influential player, Bruno Fernandes, missing out due to injury. Amorim replaced the Portuguese midfielder with Uruguayan Manuel Ugarte.
