Historic Acropolis Rally 2022: The Results of the Sporting Race

Pitsos-Karapapazis were the winners of the match, with P. Paradisi – Poimenidis and G. Paradisi – Frangou completing the podium.

Marking the fastest time in all 11 special stages of the race, the Konstantinos Pitsos and Stelios Karapapacis with Ford Sierra Cosworth 4X4 left absolutely no margin in the competition and took a clear victory at this year’s Historic Acropolis Rally.

The crew returned to the top 11 11 years after winning the 2011 Dirt Race and were also winners in the E4 category.

The race ended in second place overall Panagiotis Paradisis – Costas Poimenidis with Ford Escort MKII RS, which, with their rear-wheel drive, move impeccably and with a perfectly stable and elegant pace.

The podium of the overall standings of the Sporting match has been completed George Paradisis – Michalis Frangou with Ford Escort MKII RS2000 and finished second in the D3.

Fourth overall were the Konstantinos Tzemos – Dionysis Kolotouros with Toyota Corolla AE 86, which also won the E2. they followed Grigoris Pierroutsakos – Alexandros Mataliotakis with Peugeot 205 Rallye, which also won the E1. In E3 were the winners Konstantinos Papadimitriou – Anastasios Papadopoulos with Toyota Starlet EP 71s who finished 6th overall.

In C1 the victory was achieved by Konstantinos Argyriou – Stamatis Laskos (Toyota Corolla KE 25), in C2 the Dimitris Amaxopoulos – Chara Moraitis (Toyota Corolla KE 30) while in the B4 the Evangelos Birlirakis – Costas Kofinas (BMW 2002 Ti).

The unlucky ones of the second leg of the struggle

The beginning of the second day of racing was adventurous, as was the case with the first special route of today’s programme, in Amfissa, the Alexandros Christodoulou – Athanasios Samaras (VW Golf GTi) had a mechanical problem which caused their car to burst into flames and was completely destroyed.

A natural consequence was to stop the special run, which continued to be carried out at the passage of the last races, when the passage was now safe and of course after the fire had been extinguished. They were also eliminated from the race early on Sunday Chrysostom Karellis – Leonidas Macheiras (Peugeot 205 Rallye) due to mechanical problems, as well Konstantinos Georgakopoulos – Manos Sigalas (Toyota Corolla AE86).
