Who will win the Azerbaijan GP?
Leclerc clinched another pole position in Baku, leaving behind Perez, Ferstappen and Saint, who will surely be fighting for victory in the race. Who do you think will win in the end? Vote in the Sportish poll.
First place at the Azerbaijan GP was once again a case between Ferrari and Red Bull. Charles Leclerc is becoming a pole position wizard this year, claiming another, his sixth, in Baku.
Behind him, the second-best time was set by Sergio Perez, who is in superb form as he once again passed the champion and team-mate Max Ferstappen.
What is certain is that both Red Bull drivers will claim victory, as the Mexican wants to stay in contention for the title and not become number two in the team. Let’s also remember that Perez got his first win here with Red Bull last year.
Carlos Saint starts the race in fourth place, who in the end even seemed capable of taking pole position, but a small driving error didn’t allow him to do better in the end. Mercedes also had difficulties with the set-up on this track, so that theoretically Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be out of the race for victory again.
After all, no driver has won a second time at the Baku Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2016. Let’s remember the previous winners:
- 2016: Nico Rozberg / Mercedes (GP Europe)
- 2017: Daniel Ricciardo / Red Bull TAG Heuer (Renault)
- 2018: Lewis Hamilton/Mercedes
- 2019: Valteri Botas / Mercedes
- 2020: The match did not take place due to Covid
- 2021: Sergio Perez / Red Bull Honda
Who do you think will be the big winner at Azerbaijan GP 2022? Vote in the Sportish voting.
