Kirill Smal won the first podium in the 2022 season in the Spanish Formula 4
The third stage of the Spanish Formula 4 took place at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Chesta near Valencia, and one of the winners of the weekend was the Russian racer Kirill Smal, who won third place in the final race.
The stage was dominated by the Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolova, who excelled in each of the three races, and not once the winner’s lead was less than four seconds. Tsolov, thus, won six out of nine races in the 2022 season and is confidently leading the championship, ahead of his main rivals Timoteusz Kucharczyk and Hugh Barter.
The best of the Russians this weekend was Kirill Smal, who in the first race broke into seventh place, in the second he became fifth, and in the third race he took third position, having won the podium for the first time in the 2022 season. Due to this success, Smal is in the eighth position in the overall standings, and the gap from fourth place is only eight points.
Other Russians failed to score points this weekend. So, for Maxim Arkhangelsky, the best result was the 15th place in the first race (in the second he was 20th, in the third – 21st), Vladislav Ryabov took 21st and 19th positions in the protocols, not finishing in the last race, while Miron Pingasov was able to overcome the distance only in the final race – 16th place.
Miron, we note, is kept in the overall standings in 13th position, while Arkhangelsky and Ryabov have not yet scored points.
The next stage of the Spanish Formula 4 will take place on July 8-9 at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
