Verstappen takes rain pole in Canada, split in Alonso, Leclerc fail
Top 10: Verstappen, Alonso, Sainz, Hamilton, Magnussen, Schumacher, Ocon, Russell, Riccardo, Zhou
Qualifying took place as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Canada.
The rain pole was won confidently by Max Verstappen, who was 0.7 seconds ahead of Fernando Alonso. Yes, Alonso! Rider Alpin had an incredible final lap and took the starting lineup.
It is interesting that despite the wet track, George Russell finally decided to switch to the slippery track. The Mercedes driver took a chance, but at Turn 2 he was already flying.
Unexpectedly, results 5 and 6 were delivered by Haas representatives Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher.
Note that Charles Leclerc will start from the last row. Previously, Ferrari received a 10-point fine for replacing an engine element, and then decided to replace almost the entire engine, which led to an additional fine.
Wet qualification failed Sergio Perez. Pilot Red Bull flew over the barriers in the second segment.
