FIA Rally Star: Change of the Greek representative in the final of Germany
Due to the change in health protocols for entering Germany, it is not possible for Marialena Pavli and Grigoris Emmanuel to compete in the FIA Rally Star European Final.
The participation of Marialena Pavli and Grigoris Emmanuel in the European finals of the FIA Rally Star Institution over the next three days, from January 28 to 30, at the Estering circuit in northern Germany, became impossible due to the tightening of health protocols for entry to Germany last week.
21-year-old Marialena had qualified for the European final as the only Greek woman to compete in the FIA Rally Star, while 23-year-old Grigoris was the fastest in the slalom process of the Greek final, held in OAKA in December 12/12/2021.
The federation, as soon as it was informed of the new dates, contacted the other two candidates who had qualified for the second phase of the Greek final – who however informed that they could not participate either because of their commitments or because of Requirements of the Covid protocol19.
Thus, OMAE and Motorsport Greece decided to represent Greece Konstantinos Takidellis and Achilleas Christodoulou, utilizing the right of free choice (wild card) available to any recognized member of the world federation for that institution.
These two young athletes from the ASMA Clubs and Startline meet the requirements of the FIA Rally Star and the new health protocols in Germany. At the same time, they have extensive experience with crosscars, having been called up to compete with the TN5 Crosscar in the European finals.
More specifically, 18-year-old Konstantinos is the champion of the Panhellenic Cross Car Championship, while 17-year-old Achilles has competed in the Panhellenic Cross Car Championship in the junior category for the past three years.
The two representatives of our country prepared on Wednesday, 26.1. despite the adverse weather conditions with a training day in the Spathovouni corridor and will set off on Thursday morning 27/01 for Hamburg, Germany, accompanied by Lambros Athanasoulas and aim for the best representation of our country.
We wish the two young people good luck!
