Russell was the best in the first practice of the Dutch Grand Prix, the gearbox broke down in Verstappen’s car
British Mercedes driver George Russell was the best in the first free practice of the Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix.
Russell’s time is 1 minute 12.455 seconds.
The second result also belongs to the Mercedes driver, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. The third was the Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) encountered technical problems early in training. After ten minutes of the session, he stopped the car on the track and complained about the gearbox failure, which was later confirmed. The practice was interrupted by red flags and soon resumed.
Verstappen leads the overall standings.
The second practice starts later on Friday, the third practice and qualification will take place on September 3rd, and the race on the 4th.
