“What is he doing here?!” Gasley went berserk over a tow truck on the highway in Japan where Bianchi crashed in 2014
French Alpha Tauri driver Pierre Gasly was outraged that a tractor appeared on the track during the Japanese Grand Prix.
On-board camera footage from Gasly’s car shows him overtaking a recovery car on the track after the race was red flagged due to increased rain. After the incident, the pilot emotionally spoke on the radio: “God! What kind of tractor is this?! What is he doing here? This is simply unacceptable!”
Prior to the suspension of the race due to the accident, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz and Williams driver Alexander Albon were eliminated. The recovery vehicle was heading towards the incidents.
The racing directorate explained that Gasly, after entering the pits, returned to the track and hurried to catch up with the entire peloton already under red flags, exceeding the allowed speed. However, the presence of foreign equipment on the race track before the return of all pilots to the pits is unacceptable. The stewards will make a decision on this incident later on Sunday.
In 2014, at the Japanese Grand Prix, French driver Jules Bianchi crashed into a tow truck and was injured, as a result of which he died a few months later.
