The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) acknowledged that the French driver “Alfa Tauri” Pierre Gasly at the Japanese Grand Prix “Formula 1” was not promptly warned about the work on the track, and promised to continue to promptly notify about such situations, the FIA said in a statement.
The race took place on 9 October and was abandoned on the third lap due to rain. After the pit stop, Gasly exceeded the speed limit, passing next to a tractor that appeared on the track to clean up the Ferrari of Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who had been wrecked after the departure.
Gasly himself apologized for speeding in difficult weather conditions.
In addition, racing director Eduardo Freitas, who worked at the Japanese Grand Prix, will no longer be involved until the end of the 2022 season. Niels Wittich will finish the season as racing director.
