The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has decided to satisfy Alpin’s protest against the decision to fine the Spanish driver of the team Fernando Alonso following the results of the US Grand Prix.

The protocol restored the original result of Alonso, shown at the finish line in the USA: 7th place (6 points).

After the race in Austin, which took place on October 23, Haas filed a protest against Alonso’s result, arguing that the damaged car of the 41-year-old pilot was a threat to all other participants in the race. Alpin’s right mirror broke after an accident with Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll. The stewards eventually decided to fine Alonso for 30 seconds, due to which he dropped to 15th place in the final protocol.

Alpin later filed a counter-protest. On Thursday, Alpin’s protest was rejected by the FIA, but the team decided to request the right to review the case, citing new evidence. It turned out that Haas did not meet the 30-minute protest deadline, which cancels it and returns the original result to Alonso.

— The team welcomes the decision taken by the stewards, according to which the number 14 car regains its seventh place and six points in the race. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the FIA to ensure the highest quality of racing spectacle,” Alpin said in a Twitter statement.

The Mexican Grand Prix will take place from 28 to 30 October.
