Formula 1 team Alpin expressed outrage at the number of “toxic comments” in social networks to your address.

The day before, on November 12, in the sprint qualification for the Brazilian Grand Prix, Alpin pilots Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso took 17th and 18th places, respectively. During the sprint, the pilots fought each other, there was contact between the cars, after which Alonso went to an unscheduled pit stop. The stewards added 5 seconds of penalty to the final result of the Spaniard.

“Whatever happens on the track, there is absolutely no excuse for offensive or toxic comments about our drivers, team members, fans or anyone on the Web.

Of all the comments we received on our social media during and after sprint qualifiers, 882 were toxic, 162 of them overly toxic. This is completely unacceptable.

What we saw today, unfortunately, is not an isolated case. We continue to see hate and discrimination online and as a team we will not tolerate this.

We will take action against individuals or groups of individuals who create or distribute social media posts that contain or encourage insults against our pilots, team members and fans.

The Brazilian Grand Prix will take place on November 13. Starting at 21:00 (Moscow time).
