Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton said that he was bullied by his peers as a child, but he did not want to complain about them to his parents.

“I didn’t feel like I could go home and talk to my parents. I didn’t want my father to think I was weak. I was bullied at the age of six. At that school, I was probably one of only three colored kids there, and it’s just that the bigger, stronger kids often attacked me.

The teachers told me that I would not become anything. Then you go to history class and there are no pictures of people of color in their books. I thought, “Oh, well, where are the people who look like me?” Hamilton is quoted by GPFans.

Hamilton is involved in movements against racial discrimination.

The British pilot became the champion of F-1 in 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2017-2020. Last season, the 38-year-old Mercedes driver finished sixth in the championship.
