Fernando Alonso is one of the greatest winners in Bahrain GP history: prevailed upon three chances and it is surpassed only by Lewis Hamilton’s five wins and Sebastian Vettel’s four. In turn, Alonso is, along with Vettel, one of only two drivers to have won at Sakhir with two different teams.

After a sixth-place finish in 2004, moving up from 17th, Alonso won at the Sakhir circuit in 2005when he made his unique pole position there, and in 2006both times with Renault.

After being fifth in 2007 with McLaren, tenth in 2008 with Renault and eighth in 2009 with the French team, Alonso made his Ferrari debut in Bahrain in 2010 and did so with his third victory in the Middle Eastern nationthis time on a route almost a kilometer longer that was only used once.

The Asturian would not return to Bahrain’s top 5 since then: Scored points with Ferrari in 2012, 2013 and 2014 finishing seventh, eighth and ninth, but not with McLaren in 2015 and 2017 when they finished 11th and 14th. On his return to Formula 1 with the Alpine team, Alonso qualified well in Bahrain, finishing ninth and eighth, but in the race he was unable to improve on that: he retired in 2021 due to a brake problem on his return to F1, while in 2022 he came ninth.
