Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix qualifying for the Formula 1 Championship, taking his second career pole position.
The Mexican completed his fastest lap in 1 minute 28.265 seconds ahead of Charles Leclerc (+0.155), Fernando Alonso (+0.465), George Russell (+0.592) and Carlos Sainz (+0.666).
Leclerc will lose 10 positions at the start of the race, as the electronic control unit was replaced on his car during the weekend.
Max Verstappen of Red Bull, who had previously won all three free practices at the Jeddah city circuit, encountered mechanical problems in the second segment (gearbox failure), due to which he was only 15th in the final protocol.
The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 19 March.
