Spanish Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso has lost third place in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix due to a fine, according to the Formula 1 website.

The stewards decided on a 10-second penalty for the Spaniard after the award. Alonso dropped to fourth in the final standings for failing to serve a penalty during the race. British Mercedes driver George Russell moved up to third place in the protocol.

Before the start, 41-year-old Alonso took the wrong position on the grid, stopping the car outside the white line. At a distance, the Spaniard received a 5-second penalty, which served at the pit stop in the safety car mode, which reduced the consequences of the punishment.

The victory in the race was won by the Mexican Sergio Perez, the second was the Dutchman Max Verstappen (both Red Bull).
