Verstappen hit a bird and drove it for almost 60 laps at the Canadian Grand Prix
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen said that he rode most of the Canadian Grand Prix with a bird that he shot down early in the race.
Two-time world champion Verstappen started the race first and held the lead until the finish line. On lap 11, the Dutchman told the team that he had hit a bird. The entire distance was 70 laps.
— She got stuck in the part of the car, when I got there, she was still there. It didn’t look very good. I’m also sorry for the mechanic who had to pull her out,” Verstappen quoted Sky Sports as saying.
Team leader Christian Horner said the bird was caught behind the front right brake duct.
Verstappen won his sixth victory this season and 41st in his career. In terms of the total number of races won, the 25-year-old racer caught up with the three-time world champion Brazilian Ayrton Senna.
