Carlos Sainz It doesn’t have much of a story. Netherlands F1 GP. Since returning to the calendar in 2021, he has scored good points but has yet to get a good result.
Below is the history and palms of Carlos Sainz at Dutch Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz’s Dutch Grand Prix record
Unlike others like Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz did race at Zandvoort before reaching Formula 1. Which he did in 2010 at formula bmw with good results (5th and 2nd), as well as in 2012 in European Formula 3. However, this past experience did not prevent the Spaniard from leaving the Netherlands in 2021 with a bitter taste after the Formula 1 race.
After qualifying sixth on Saturday, just 1 tenth behind his teammate, Sunday was a different story. Sainz was unable to gain positions at the start and was demoted to sixth because he was not comfortable with the car. The lack of rhythm was such that on the last lap Fernando Alonso overtook him and took his place.
Bad luck and a series of bad decisions defined him in 2022. The ranking was unbeatable, finishing less than a tenth behind Pole, but Sunday was another story. OK start but no pace to fight for the podium, slowly started to sink and the first pit stop was horrible (12 seconds). He then entered a lap before VSC and to finish a unsafe release which cost him a 5 second penalty. He initially saw the checkered flag in 5th place but this penalty dropped him to 8th.
