The return of Formula 1 after the holidays it was exciting. Although the 2023 season had no big surprises, with his absolute dominance Max Verstappenhe Dutch GP provided seasonings. The rain was decisive in this combination: it appeared at the beginning but also at the end. That didn’t stop the locals from celebrating once again and adding their ninth consecutive win to match the best record in history (Sebastian Vettel).
Good things happened behind Max. All was set for another 1-2 for Red Bull, but with less than 10 laps to go, rain made it difficult Czech Perez. The Mexican who entered the pits first for the intermediate tires also passed Fernando Alonso he took advantage of it. The Spaniard was the best driver of the day: he gained two places at the start to finish third and showed consistency throughout the race.
For the Mexican, the Dutch GP was a bitter pill because he didn’t even finish third. On the restart of the race after the red flag, he was given a 5 second speeding penalty in the pits, for which he eventually finished fourth. Pierre Gasly took the last place on the podium.

Ferrari is still bad and Carlos Sainz saved what would have been an unforgettable Sunday. The Madrid native, who had already shown some potential in qualifying, finished 5th. Wrong strategies at the beginning (didn’t pit) hurt Lando Norris and George Russell, who had started 2nd and 3rd, respectively. The Englishman from McLaren finished 7th and the one from Mercedes 17th.
F1 does not rest and next Sunday it arrives in Monza for the legendary Italian Grand Prix. There, at the home of Ferrari, Red Bull can write a new golden page in the hands of Verstappen.

Highlights of the 2023 F1 Netherlands GP
- Exit: Fernando Alonso, who started from fifth, had a stunning start and finished third after passing George Russell and Alex Albon. But it all turned upside down in a matter of seconds with a light rain that forced the teams to consider changing tyres.
- Round 1: Checo Pérez was the first to enter the pits along with a small group of less competitive single-seater drivers. I would find excellent returns.
- Round 2: Of the group in front, George Russell and Lando Norris did not pit and struggled with the wet track. They would then come in and be relegated to give Checo Pérez the top spot.
- Round 9: The track dried quickly and the re-entrant drivers found good results.
- Round 12: Max Verstappen retakes the lead after Sergio Perez pits. Red Bull maintain their 1-2 with Fernando Alonso third. Pierre Gasly and Carlos Alonso complete the top 5. All drivers have dry tires.
- round 16: Logan Sargent crashes into the walls like in qualifying and the safety car comes in.
- Round 25: Liam Lawson makes his F1 debut and is comfortable in last place. The AlphaTauri driver received a 10 second penalty for blocking an opponent.
- Round 36: The race reached the midway point of 72 laps and was ironed out with the two Red Bulls leading the way. Fernando Alonso has a good distance with Pierre Gasly and walks to a new podium.
- Round 42: After getting past Liam Lawson, who stepped up his performance, Ferrari decided to retire Charles Leclerc’s car.
- Round 49: Fernando Alonso’s slow stop because the left front tire stuck. He lost third place and was fifth behind Carlos Sainz plus Yuki Tsunoda.
- Round 52: As the team made him lose at the pit stop, Fernando Alonso recovered on track to quickly return to third place.
- Round 60: The most interesting race is for fourth place. Pierre Gasly is defending and Carlos Sainz can’t find where to attack him. George Russell, for his part, continues to lose pace and drops out of the top 10 after starting 3rd.
- Round 61: The rain returns and Checo Pérez enters the pits again. The stop was bad, 10 seconds, but he continues second.
- Round 63: Checo Pérez passes and is overtaken by Fernando Alonso. The Asturian is the best guide of the day.
- Round 64: Guanyu Zhou loses control of the car and crashes into the crash barriers. The direction of the race raises a red flag and everything stops.
- Round 65: After a very long wait, and when it is believed that he will not restart, the drivers return for a game with a safety car.
- Round 68: Checo Pérez received a five-second penalty for exceeding the speed limit in the pits.
- FINAL: Victory for Max Verstappen! The Dutchman was solid, joined by Alonso and Gasly on the podium.
